An area inside the wrist that contains bones, ligaments, and the median nerve, is called the carpal tunnel. As this facilitates the hand and arm to move, when it feels any numbness, pain, tingling, or weakness, it is majorly a sign of carpal tunnel syndrome. It may make the hand grasp even small objects very hardly. 

Most common causes behind this syndrome:

Repetitive maneuvers.

Work stress.

Pregnancy (edema, or fluid retention).

An underactive thyroid.

Structural problems.

The main cause behind this syndrome is an injury that makes swelling or inflammation in specific areas of the hand, especially on the median nerve. Any kind of fracture cyst or tumor can also be a probable cause for this. Sometimes persistent use of vibrating tools can also lead to CTS.

Symptoms

Tingling or numbness.

Weakness

Thumb or wrist arthritis.

Pins or needles sensation.

Hard to grasp small things.

In severe cases, some other signs are also visible such as changes in skin color of the affected area, change in hand temperature, swollen fingers, unable to feel hot or cold by touch.
